1: A new hope

At first I planned to title this first post the clichéd "A new beginning" but seeing as how I have had multiple beginnings on my poker journey in the past it wouldn't make much sense. Furthermore, I could say my situation in the poker game is fairly akin to Luke Skywalker's at the start of the first film. Like Luke in the early stages of Jedi-hood, I really sucked at poker when I started out in early December last year. Though I had played a fair amount of hand before, I still put this down as my starting point because it was at this point where I began to actively seek out knowledge of this hardest of games.

I'm not going to go much into my history; all I can really say is that it has been a very up and down ride with a lot of breakthroughs and breakdowns. My bankroll has been akin to the tides of the ocean, rising and receding with almost predictable certainty. The fact of the matter is that I am sick of this much variance in my experience and have taken some but not enough steps to change this. It is important as a poker player to understand that variance is as much a part of poker as the money itself, however, it is still possible to reduce how much this variance affects you and your game. I honestly couldn't tell you whether I am up or down lifetime in poker but I think I'm pretty close to the break even line. This again, is another good reason for me to start this blog now.

So, with that crappy intro let us move on to the purpose and goals of this blog.

1) To post here whenever inspired to expressing how my game is evolving and what steps I am taking to accomplish this growth.
2) To write up and interesting insights I have had into poker, life, or any other subject that balance is important in (I apologize if some of these posts tend to ramble on in advance).
3) To help myself establish a regularity in my life that I see as absolutely vital in all aspects of life (I will elaborate on this in my next post maybe).
4) I plan to keep this blog 100% tilt free for the dual purpose of keeping the tone of my posts positive and to also hopefully help me control tilting in general.
5) Variance can die in a fire as far as I am concerned! justforfunds's Poker Stats

So without further ado, let's get this road on the show or this show on the road!
